Saddle up for homelessness

What is it?

It’s called the Great Property Cycle, organised by the Estate Agency Foundation (EAF), and all proceeds go toward homelessness in the UK.

The EAF was set up specifically to combat the causes of homelessness and last year raised around £70,000 for various charities who support those affected by the problem.

To give you some kind of idea of how much distance will be covered, a grand total of 13,000 miles was cycled during year’s event so it will take a huge effort to match that milestone this year. That’s the equivalent of cycling the Great Wall of China believe it or not, and of course the aim is to better that total in 2013, so why not get involved?

Make your own pace

If you’re an agent or industry supplier it’s easy and the upside is you don’t have to cycle it all by yourself. All you need to do is choose your cycling distance; either 20, 50 or 100 miles, and then simply get on with it.

That’s it. You’ve got the whole month to do it and what’s more is it doesn’t matter how you do it. You can be creative as you like just as long as it involves a bike. If you sign up you’ll also receive your very own yellow jersey (which, in reality is just a t-shirt) for you to use as you cycle.

So to give you an idea, you could:

-Do it all in one go

-Cycle a portion each weekend in September

-Cycle to the office every day for a week/month

-Cycle as a group

-Cycle on your own

-Cycle it on a cycling machine in the gym

-Go out on a tandem with a friend

-Have a day out with everyone in the office

Giving extra back

As an added incentive for getting involved the person that raises the most money over £750 will win a road bike donated by LSLI – part of LSL Property Service Group. The EAF will be also be donating £500 to the homeless charity of choice for the three riders who raise the most money over £500.
