mydeposits.co.uk price freeze

22 December 2009

mydeposits.co.uk has upped the stakes in the tenancy deposit protection price war, by cutting the VAT on deposit protection, freezing all prices at 2009 levels*.

From 1 January 2010 when VAT returns to 17.5 per cent, mydeposits.co.uk will keep its prices at their 2009 levels, providing landlords with the most competitive price for insurance-based tenancy deposit protection. Landlords signing up to the scheme for the first time will also benefit from a frozen joining fee, which also stays at its 2009 price of £57.50.

Eddie Hooker, Chief Executive, mydeposits.co.uk, said:

“2009 was a difficult year for many landlords, and we are pleased to be able to offer some support. Over 50,000 existing landlord members of the scheme will benefit from our price freeze, as will all landlords protecting their tenants’ deposits with mydeposits.co.uk for the first time.

“As the only scheme specifically designed to allow landlords to hold deposits themselves, mydeposits.co.uk continues to offer the same excellent service at an even more competitive price. We are committed to offering landlords the best possible deal, alongside a quality, fair service for both landlord and tenant.”

About mydeposits.co.uk:

Mydeposits is the trading name of Tenancy Deposit Solutions Limited, a company jointly owned by the National Landlords Association and HFIS plc T/A Hamilton Fraser Insurance (the Scheme Administrator) to deliver an insurance-backed tenancy deposit protection scheme under contract from Communities & Local Government. Landlords and letting agents wishing to use this scheme are required to register with the Scheme Administrator. They can find out more and register by visiting www.mydeposits.co.uk. Registered members of the Scheme are able to protect and unprotect deposits at the beginning and end of tenancies. Fees are tax-deductible. In the event of a dispute at the end of the tenancy agreement, both parties are offered access to alternative dispute resolution (ADR). This procedure will be evidence-based, relying on documentation and records.
