Award-nominated tenancy deposit
scheme mydeposits.co.uk has reached the significant milestone of protecting its one millionth deposit.
The deposit protection was purchased by Unite, the UK's largest student accommodation provider.
To celebrate, mydeposits.co.uk has donated £1,000 to Unite's favourite charity, Students in Free Enterprise, which helps university students develop outreach projects in their communities and become business leaders. Staff at Unite also received £1,000 worth of champagne.
Eddie Hooker, Chief Executive, mydeposits.co.uk, commented:
“This is another significant achievement by the company and was fittingly purchased by one of the first organisations to join the scheme. We have had a long relationship with Unite and they are growing to become one of our biggest customers.
“Our popularity among landlords and letting agents has been quite extraordinary. We've reached one million deposits in just over three and a half years since mandatory protection was introduced in April 2007.”
Shane Spiers, Managing Director Property Management, Unite said:
“For the past few years Unite has enjoyed working with the mydeposits team. They offer a great service, which is flexible and easy to use.
“It is wonderful to have been awarded for securing the one millionth deposit and we are pleased we have been able to give a donation to Students in Free Enterprise, a fantastic organisation.
“We look forward to working with mydeposits into the future.”
mydeposits.co.uk now protects an average 30,000 deposits on behalf of landlords every month. It is the only tenancy deposit protection scheme designed specifically for landlords and letting agents that want to control the deposit.
The free dispute resolution service has helped resolve more than 12,000 deposit disputes between landlords and tenants and was recently commended by judges at the prestigious Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) Awards for Excellence.
Mydeposits.co.uk is currently offering a special £10 joining fee for new members, down from the usual £47.50, for landlords who sign up online between 1 December 2010 and 31 January 2011.
